CALL FOR GROW GREEN AFRICA (GR2A) MSC SCHOLARSHIP (INTRA-AFRICA ACADEMIC MOBILITY SCHOLARSHIP) (2026)
Applications for scholarships are invited from suitable candidates to pursue studies and research in Green Computing mainly in Computer Science and Information Systems at Rhodes University. The project consists of five participating African institutions which are: the National University of Science and Technology (NUST Zimbabwe), Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST Namibia), the Copperbelt University (CBU) of Zambia, Rhodes University (RU) of South Africa and the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) of Eswatini.
Introduction
The Grow Green Africa (Gr2A) project is sponsored by the Intra-Africa mobility Scheme of the European Union. The project seeks to address the regional and global challenges of climate change through knowledge exchange in green computing competencies among African students and academics. Through teaching and research in green computing, the project promotes the development of innovative green solutions, focusing on sustainability.
List of Higher Education Institutions (HIE) in the Consortium is Group 1:
Copperbelt University (CBU), Zambia; National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Zimbabwe; Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), Namibia; Rhodes University (RU), South Africa, and University of Eswatini (UNESWA), Eswatini.
The rest of African Universities outside the Consortium including universities within African countries in the Consortium are Group 2.
Application requirements for Degree Seeking Applicants
For Target Group 1: Applicants must be registered or admitted in or have obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from one of the HEIs listed as Consortium partners.
For Target Group 2: Applicants must be registered or admitted in or have obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from any HEI not included in the partnership as a partner but established in an eligible country. At the time of application, a candidate must be a national and resident in an African country.
Applicants must have no other scholarship within the same project under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme regardless of the type of mobility or the funding project.Applicants must not have benefited from scholarship(s) under the previous Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Schemes.
To be considered applicants must prepare and submit the following documents:
- A strong motivation letter (max 800 words)- showing:
- A project proposal in the area of study
- A detailed curriculum vitae
- Certified copies of undergraduate and/ or masters’ certificate
- Proof of university admission, or offer letter for the chosen programme of study
- Three (3) letters of references
