Cultivating Change: Gr2A Scholars Thrive in Namibia, Paving the Way for a Sustainable Africa
At the heart of the Grow Green Africa (Gr2A) project is a commitment to empowering the next generation of African leaders. Our scholarship recipients, currently pursuing their Master of Management at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), are already making significant strides in their academic and professional journeys, embodying the spirit of green innovation and sustainable development.
A Foundation of Academic Rigour and Vision
Our scholars have successfully immersed themselves in a rigorous curriculum, completing core modules such as Sustainable Strategy, Organisational Theory, and Management Frontiers. These courses have provided a strong foundation in understanding how businesses can thrive while embracing environmental responsibility and the principles of a circular economy.
“The modules gave me a strong grounding in management and strengthened my passion for connecting leadership with sustainability,” shares scholar Nolwazi Dube.

From Theory to Impact: Ground-breaking Research in Action
The true measure of the Gr2A project’s success lies in the application of knowledge. Our scholars are not just learning—they are contributing to vital research that addresses Africa’s most pressing challenges.
- Tamsangqa Benson Lubasi, under the supervision of Prof. Nikodemus Angula, has co-authored and submitted a book chapter titled “Forecasting Humidity Saturation for Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture in Africa’s Arid Farmlands Using Machine Learning.” His work directly supports SDGs 6, 13, and 15 by exploring practical, technology-driven solutions for smallholder farmers.
- Nolwazi Dube is channeling her academic insights into her thesis, focusing on the potential of geothermal energy in Southern Africa, aiming to add valuable knowledge to the continent’s renewable energy landscape.
Engaging with the Global Sustainability Agenda
Learning extends far beyond the classroom. Gr2A scholars are actively engaging with the wider sustainability community. They have participated in UNDP conferences on Climate Change and the SDGs, contributed to the African Union’s Green Recovery Action Plan, and attended research retreats and faculty research days. These experiences have broadened their perspectives and connected them with leaders and practitioners shaping our world.
“These activities have strengthened my research capacity, broadened my understanding of global sustainability issues, and deepened my engagement with climate action,” notes scholar Opuere Amakoromo.
Building the Leaders of Tomorrow
The Gr2A mission is to foster holistic growth. Our scholars are also dedicated to personal development, enhancing their leadership and communication skills through initiatives like Toastmasters and mentorship programs. This ensures they are not only knowledgeable experts but also confident advocates capable of driving change in their communities and future careers.
